Zenith Energy Acquires 30 MW Agrivoltaic Portfolio in Italy for $3.6 Million in Largest Solar Deal Yet

In a strategic leap forward, Zenith Energy announced on August 11, 2025, the acquisition of a 30 MW agrivoltaic portfolio in Italy for $3.6 million (€3.1 million)—marking the company’s largest solar energy transaction to date. The purchase was made through WESOLAR S.R.L., Zenith’s wholly owned Italian subsidiary, and includes the land that will host the projects, with payment contingent upon the assets reaching Ready-to-Build (RTB) status.

This landmark move not only demonstrates Zenith’s growing commitment to sustainable energy development but also expands its total portfolio to over 50 MWp, spanning operational, RTB, and development-stage solar assets.

A Sustainable Blend of Agriculture and Energy
The newly acquired portfolio comprises five agrivoltaic projects located in Italy’s Piedmont region. These projects represent a forward-thinking model that combines solar energy production with agricultural use, promoting land efficiency and dual-income opportunities for local farmers.

Designed with single-axis tracker systems, the projects will maximize solar capture while allowing for continued farming underneath and around the panels. All five assets are currently in the development stage and are projected to reach RTB status within 12 to 16 months, paving the way for full-scale construction thereafter.

Strategic Growth Backed by Portfolio Diversification
This acquisition aligns with Zenith Energy’s broader long-term expansion strategy, which emphasizes scalable, high-efficiency renewable assets and partnerships with major utilities. By securing diversified projects across Italy—including previous acquisitions in Liguria, Puglia, Piedmont, and Lazio—Zenith is positioning itself as a key player in Europe’s growing agrivoltaic and utility-scale solar sectors.

The company’s decision to pivot away from a smaller 2 MWp RTB project in Lazio, announced in May 2025, further reflects a sharpened focus on high-impact, portfolio-enhancing opportunities like this one.
