The energy landscape in the Philippines just received a strong push toward sustainability. On September 11, 2025, Vivant Corporation announced the acquisition of a 40% stake in the Samal solar project from Tigon Power Corporation, signaling a decisive step in its renewable energy journey. This strategic move strengthens the nation’s clean energy efforts while highlighting the importance of collaboration between private enterprises and public goals.

The Php 395 million ($6.91 million) transaction was executed through Vivant Energy’s acquisition of shares in Samal Solar Renewable Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of Tigon Power. With this investment, Vivant Energy is reinforcing its commitment to raise its renewable energy mix to 30% by 2030, aligning with the Philippines’ national sustainability targets. By backing the Department of Energy’s call for stronger public-private partnerships, Vivant is positioning itself as a vital driver in the energy transition.

The Samal solar project is a 53.14 MWp facility located in Bataan, Luzon, which began commercial operations in August 2025. At its core, the project integrates a 500 kVA grid-tied system with over 1,036 solar panels, each rated at 450 watts. This cutting-edge infrastructure was delivered by Solenergy Systems Inc., the project’s EPC partner responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction. The scale of the project demonstrates how modern solar solutions can be deployed quickly to support growing energy demands while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The energy produced from the Samal solar facility is secured under a 20-year power sales agreement with COREnergy, the retail supply arm of Vivant. This arrangement ensures long-term stability for both producers and consumers, creating a reliable framework for expanding renewable energy capacity. For businesses and communities in Luzon, it translates into access to cleaner, sustainable energy that fuels growth while minimizing environmental impact.

As the Philippines embraces a greener energy future, Vivant’s move is more than just a financial investment—it’s a clear commitment to sustainable progress. With initiatives like the Samal solar project, the path toward a cleaner and more resilient power grid is gaining momentum.
