In a move that cements its leadership in Idaho’s renewable energy landscape, rPlus Energies announced on November 13, 2025, the acquisition of the Bluebird Solar + Battery project from Mission Clean Energy. The addition of this 200 MW solar and 100 MW battery project marks another significant milestone in rPlus’s mission to accelerate clean energy development across the American West.

With this latest acquisition, rPlus Energies solidifies its position as Idaho’s foremost solar and energy storage developer. The Bluebird project, located in Ada County, adds to rPlus’s growing portfolio of large-scale renewable assets in the region. It joins Pleasant Valley Solar 1 — which rPlus developed and retains a minority interest in — and Pleasant Valley Solar 2, a fully owned project currently under construction. Together, these ventures form a cohesive clean energy ecosystem in southern Idaho, contributing to grid reliability and supporting the state’s energy independence. The company’s rapid regional expansion demonstrates not only its commitment to sustainable growth but also its confidence in Idaho’s role as a hub for next-generation renewable energy infrastructure.

The acquisition of Bluebird aligns with rPlus Energies’ broader strategy to expand its renewable footprint across the American West. The project’s 200 MW solar and 100 MW battery capacity will play a critical role in balancing the local grid, providing stored energy during peak demand, and stabilizing power supply amid growing renewable penetration. Expected to begin operations by 2028, Bluebird represents a cornerstone investment in Ada County’s clean energy economy. Beyond this transaction, rPlus has also acquired the 400 MW Blacks Creek Energy Center solar project paired with a 200 MW battery system from Q CELLS. Collectively, the four projects — Bluebird, Pleasant Valley Solar 1 and 2, and Blacks Creek Energy Center — account for over 1.2 GW of solar and storage capacity, representing an estimated $1.4 billion in planned investment.

The Bluebird project underscores rPlus Energies’ vision of integrating large-scale renewable assets into resilient energy systems that serve both communities and industry. By coupling solar generation with advanced battery storage, rPlus aims to enhance Idaho’s grid flexibility, reduce emissions, and contribute to the state’s renewable energy targets. The company’s collaboration with Mission Clean Energy and advisory support from Dorsey & Whitney further reflect its commitment to responsible, expertly managed project development. Once operational, the Bluebird project will not only supply clean power to thousands of Idaho homes but also strengthen the local economy through job creation and infrastructure investment.

rPlus Energies’ acquisition of the Bluebird Solar + Battery project marks a defining step in its renewable growth journey. By investing in large-scale, storage-integrated projects across Idaho, rPlus is shaping the state’s transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy future. As the company continues to expand across the American West, its strategic vision and partnerships promise to deliver lasting value for both the environment and local communities.
