Alight Energy Expands Finland Solar and BESS Pipeline to 255 MW
February 13, 2026
3 min read

Alight Energy has acquired a 255 MW solar and BESS portfolio in Finland from 3Flash Finland Oy, expanding an existing development partnership that previously delivered a ~120 MW solar park with 45 MW BESS in Loviisa.

The insight is simple: Alight is scaling through repeat co-development with a local partner, not through late-stage asset purchases. Both projects — 150 MW Rautjärvi and 75 MW Ruokolahti with a permitted 30 MW BESS — will be jointly advanced to ready-to-build before capital is fully deployed.

Rautjärvi began development in 2023 and targets grid connection via Fingrid around 2030, with a planned 30-year operating life. Ruokolahti targets connection in 2028, has land secured, surveys nearing completion, and a building permit for storage. These are structured development plays with defined grid pathways.

Commercially, this signals capital discipline. By entering before RtB but alongside the original developer, Alight secures pipeline control while sharing execution risk. Grid access and permitting visibility are being built into the structure, not priced at acquisition.

In a Nordic market where interconnection and permitting timelines are stretching, repeat partnerships with proven developers are becoming the preferred expansion model.
